The Ukrainian scored his second assist in 9 days
Chelsea started in the general stage Conference Leagues 2024/25 with a high-scoring home win over Belgium Ghent – 4:2.
The Ukrainian winger joined in this victory Mikhail Mudrikreleased (as previously announced by coach Enzo Maresca) in the starting lineup. Already in the 12th minute, the Ukrainian received the ball on the right edge of the Belgian penalty area and made a cross to the opposite side of the goal, which was closed by Renato Veiga.
Mudryk played his seventh match for the club this season. Mikhail scored three assists in them (if you count the earned penalty against Servette in the LC playoffs as one of them). Today’s assist was the second for the Ukrainian in nine days – we recall that on September 24, Mudryk scored a similar action in the League Cup match with Barrow (5:0).
In the very first seconds of the second half, Chelsea increased the score – Pedro Neto did it. Ghent quickly pulled one goal back, but soon Christopher Nkunku restored the status quo – Veiga added an assist to the goal. The Blues’ advantage was cemented by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who took advantage of a defender’s mistake in the opponent’s penalty area.
At the very end, the guests managed to escape defeat – a quick attack led to a goal by Omri Gendelman from a pass from Max Dean (both players came on as substitutes).
In the second round, Chelsea will visit Panathinaikos on October 24.
