Former FFU president Anatoly Konkov died

The former footballer and coach’s heart stopped beating on Friday at the age of 76.

Former football player and coach, former president of FFU Anatoly Konkov has passed away. It was reported to the UAF.

Konkov was 75 years old at the time of his death. The causes of death have not been reported.

As a player, Konkov once played for Avangard (Kramatorsk), Shakhtar and Dynamo, as well as the USSR national team.

After finishing his playing career, he coached Tavriya, Shakhtar, Zenit, SK Nikolaev, Stal (Alchevsk), Inter (Baku), as well as youth and national teams of Ukraine.

From September 2012 to January 23, 2015, Konkov was the president of the FFU. And before that he also served as sports director of Stal (2008–2012).

As a player, he became the champion of the USSR four times. He also won the USSR Cup, Cup Winners’ Cup, UEFA Super Cup, was a silver medalist at the European Championship and a bronze medalist at the Olympics.
