‘Gypsy King’ confident of facing ‘AJ’ at Wembley
Former WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KO) announced his desire to fight with another ex-world heavyweight champion – Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).
“Joshua knows he’s going to get the fight with me. Even if we are 50 years old, he will have to fight me. This cannot be avoided, he cannot escape from me. Even if we’re 50, we’ll still be at Wembley.”
Joshua lost to Daniel Dubois in a fight that took place in London on September 21. Daniel knocked down AJ three times and knocked out his opponent in the fifth round. Dubois defended the IBF title, which he received after Oleksandr Usyk abandoned it.
The Joshua-Dubois fight set a new record for the largest number of spectators in the 21st century for a boxing match. The boxing evening at Wembley Stadium in London was attended by 98,128 people.
In May, Fury suffered the first defeat of his professional career in a fight with Usik, which took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
