The 26-year-old midfielder is a key player in Ruslan Rotan’s team this season
Midfielder Alexandria Ivan Kalyuzhny called back to Ukrainian national teamthe journalist reports Igor Burbas.
For the 26-year-old player, the call to the national team is his debut in his career.
This season, Kalyuzhny appeared in the starting lineup for Alexandria in all eight matches in the UPL, scoring one goal in the game with Shakhtar (4:3).
After today’s draw against Rukh (1:1), Alexandria itself took intermediate first place in the UPL. Ruslan Rotan’s team is ahead of Dynamo by one point, Polesie – by three. The Kyiv and Zhytomyr clubs will play their matches in this round tomorrow, October 6.
Let us remind you that due to injuries to Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov and Everton defender Vitaly Mikolenko, Dynamo winger Andrei Yarmolenko and Austin defender Alexander Svatok were called up to the national team yesterday. Both players were previously on the national team’s reserve list, but have now been promoted to the main team.
On September 7, the blue-yellows, in a formal home match of the 1st round of Group B1 of the 2024/25 Nations League, were defeated by Albania – 1:2. Three days later, Sergei Rebrov’s team lost to the Czech Republic (2:3) in a productive match of the 2nd round. Both fights took place in Prague.
The Ukrainian national team will play its next match on October 11 against Georgia, and on October 14 it will play against the Czech Republic. Both games will be nominally “home” for the Ukrainian team and will be held in Poznan and Wroclaw, Poland.
The Ukrainian team closes the standings of Group B1. Albania and the Czech Republic have three points each after two rounds, Georgia is in the lead with two victories.
