Shandruk: It was doubly nice to finally win at home, we already seriously owe the fans

Today Veres won a strong-willed victory over Zarya in the 9th round of the UPL

Acting head coach Veresa Oleg Shandruk commented on the victory over Zarya (2:1) in the 9th round UPL.

“It’s nice that we were able to finally break the winless streak of matches against Zorya. Previously, we had already interrupted a similar unsuccessful series of fights with Kolos. Now – with Zarya. It was doubly nice to finally win at home. Because we already seriously owe the fans. I hope they enjoyed the game and the result today. Despite the weather, we had support today. And this support is very important to us.”

“We made three forced substitutions at once. Mikhail Protasevich felt discomfort in his adductor muscle at the end of the first half. Andrei Kozhukhar had certain problems even before the game. But we still decided that he will start this match. As the match progressed, Andrei felt worse, and we replaced him. As for Vasily Gaman, this is a very annoying episode. Such clashes are unfortunately part of football. I can’t say for sure yet, but I hope that the doctors will not confirm the worst diagnosis. Otherwise, it may take a long time to recover. We are very worried. But we believe that the damage is not that significant.”

“As for Samuel Nongo, he only trained with the team for two days. During the international break, we will assess the functional status of this player. Today we included him in the application so that he could feel this team spirit. Now it is difficult to understand how much time he needs to adapt. But even twenty minutes of quality play against Chernomorets will be a good reinforcement for us. And then he will get in shape because of the championship matches.”

“Ruslan Stepanyuk? In the last game we replaced him due to elevated temperature. He felt bad. I understand it’s a virus. I trained individually, then felt bad again. So we gave him a week to fully recover.”

The victory over Zorya was Veres’s first home victory in this UPL draw. In the standings, Oleg Shandruk’s team is now in 11th place with 9 points.

Veres will play his next match on October 20 away against Chernomorets.
