Ponomarev: Against Alexandria Rukh gained one point rather than lost two

The Lviv coach analyzed the missed goal and also spoke about the personnel situation in the team

Head coach Ruha Vitaly Ponomarev commented on the away draw against Alexandriaobtained in the match of the 9th round UPL with a dramatic ending (1:1).

“Analyzing the fight, we can say that Rukh gained one point rather than lost two. The team played two different halves. In particular, the first one was quite good in our performance, but then we had to make forced replacements. Unfortunately, those players who came on as substitutes were not able to play at the level that we would like to see.”

“We had three difficult away matches against Vorskla, Dynamo and Alexandria. The last two teams are the championship leaders, so a draw with them is a pretty good result. Of course, it was not easy for us to play against Dynamo and Alexandria, because these are strong teams that are at the top of the standings for a reason.”

“In the episode with the missed goal, Dmitry Ledviy made a gross mistake. There is nothing to talk about, because he himself understands everything perfectly. Our team consists of young players who lack experience and stability. They need to learn, including from such mistakes. But this does not mean that we will deviate from our strategy, because we will continue to trust our youth.”

“Yuri Klimchuk has not yet reached his optimal shape. He missed a lot due to injury, so now he needs time to get back to his best. Roman Didyk received a blow to the head, so we decided to replace him. He is now under medical supervision. Vladislav Semotyuk also left the field due to injury.”

Let us remind you that in Alexandria the score remained 0:0 for a long time. In the 88th minute, Alexander Filippov seemed to snatch victory for Ruslan Rotan’s team. But in the 9th minute of stoppage time, the Lviv team equalized – Igor Krasnopir did it, converting the penalty.

Rukh drew in the fourth round in a row. Before this, Ponomarev’s team had goalless draws with Vorskla, Dynamo and Kolos. In the standings, the Lviv team is now in 5th place with 13 points.

Rukh will play his next match after the international break – on October 21 in the derby against the Carpathians.
