A newly formed team of transgender men is defeated by an opponent in regional competitions.

An unusual amateur team was formed in Spain.

According to Reuters, a team called Phoenix, made up entirely of transgender men, debuted in regional competitions in Catalonia.

The team represents a suburb of Barcelona called Sant Feliu de Löbergat.

The club failed in its first match in the Catalan championship, losing 19:0 to the representatives of the municipality of Pagliage.

19-year-old team captain Luke Ibanez shared his thoughts on the idea of creating such a team.

“Phoenix is a team of only trans boys, created exclusively by trans boys, and it’s a family, a safe place where you can relax, where you can express yourself the way you want and what you really feel,” he said.

It should be said that athletes of any gender can take part in the Catalan regional football league, and from the 2023/24 season, men can play alongside men, women and transwomen.

We remind you that earlier the Algerian boxer denied the rumor that he is transgender.
