The Frenchman’s contract with Juventus runs until June 2026
General manager Juventus Maurizio Scanavino stated that the midfielder Paul Pogba will leave the club and become a free agent.
“I can confirm that we are in discussions with Paul Pogba and his circle to find a solution. It is already clear, the terms remain to be agreed upon, but Pogba will leave Juventus and become a free agent.”
Recall that last week the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) heard Pogba’s appeal and reduced his ban from 4 years to 18 months.
Thus, starting in January 2025, Pogba can return to training at the club, and starting in March, he can take the field in official matches.
Last September, the National Anti-Doping Tribunal reported that testosterone metabolites of non-endogenous origin were found in Pogba’s sample. It was reported that the midfielder took the banned substance on the advice of his doctor friend, who purchased the drug in the United States. In October, it became known that the French midfielder’s repeat doping test also showed a positive result for testosterone.
The Frenchman’s lawyers did not agree to a plea deal; the midfielder did not admit guilt. Instead, the footballer insisted on unintentionally consuming a banned substance prescribed to him by a doctor friend.
In September 2023, the Turin club announced the temporary suspension of the midfielder. In February 2024, Italy’s National Anti-Doping Tribunal officially handed the Frenchman a maximum ban of four years, but Paul Pogba exercised his legal right to appeal against the decision.
Paul Pogba returned to Juventus from Manchester United in the summer of 2022. The Frenchman last appeared on the field on September 3, 2023 against Empoli (2:0).
Pogba’s contract with Juventus runs until June 2026.
It was previously reported that Pogba was in negotiations with Marseille, and MLS and Saudi Arabia clubs also requested information about the French midfielder.
