In case of a draw after the main time of the match, the winner will be determined immediately in a penalty shootout
Royal Spanish Football Federation canceled extra time in matches for Spanish Super Cup in men’s and women’s competitions.
In case of a draw at the end of regulation time, the winner will be determined immediately in a penalty shootout. The goal of the Federation is to ease the minute load on football players who compete in an additional tournament.
This season, four teams will take part in the Spanish Super Cup – champion Real Madrid, vice-champion Barcelona, Copa del Rey winner Athletic and cup finalist Mallorca. The matches will take place from 8 to 12 January 2025.
Last season, Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup. Blancos defeated Barcelona (4:1) in the final. Let us note that out of the three matches of the mini-tournament, the winner was determined in regulation time in two matches. In the semi-final between Real Madrid and Atletico Cream, they won in overtime (5:3).
