The Briton said that the Ukrainian’s dominance in heavyweight must end one day
IBF heavyweight belt holder Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KO) stated that he will support the former WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KO) in the second fight with the WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC heavyweight title holder Alexander Usik (22-0, 14 KOs).
“Upsets happen, don’t they? You never know what’s going to happen in the heavyweight division. I’ll pick Fury, I want him to win, but you never know. Usyk has been going through the heavyweight divisions for a while now and someone needs to put a stop to it. I hope Fury can do it.”
Earlier, Dubois said that he was ready for a rematch with Usyk. The Briton promised to “go through” the Ukrainian in the second fight. Let us remember that in their first fight, Alexander won by knockout in the ninth round.
On the night of May 18-19, Usik inflicted the first defeat in his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight. Oleksandr Usyk will prepare for the rematch in a training camp in Valencia. Tyson Fury said he will begin training six to seven weeks before the fight.
