Police found no signs of violent death on the body of Greek footballer Baldock

On the body of a Greek national team footballer and “Panathinaikos” George Baldock no trace of violent death was found, reports The Standard, citing Greek police.

On Thursday, the Hellenic Football Federation announced Baldock’s death at the age of 32. According to media reports, the defender’s body was found in the swimming pool of his own house in Athens.

— A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Attica Security Directorate. A medical examiner was called to the scene and examined the body and found no signs of foul play.

Additionally, police searched the house to determine if there were signs of forced entry, but the result came back negative. In addition, a specialized team from the police’s Criminal Investigation Department carried out a check in the house to rule out any possibility of criminal activity, the Greek Ministry of Citizen Protection said in a statement.

Baldock joined Greece’s Panathinaikos from England’s Sheffield United this summer. He previously played for Oxford, Tamworth, Northampton, Milton Keynes Dons and Icelandic side Vestmannaeyjar.

Baldock has made 12 appearances for the Greek national team, with the defender last appearing in a national team shirt in March.
