Grealish, Alexander-Arnold and Rice scored for the Three Lions
Team England was able to rehabilitate herself for the sensational home defeat against Greecehaving beaten away Finland in the 4th round League of Nations – 3:1.
The hosts attacked a lot, creating chances almost on par with their famous opponents. But class broke the order: Lee Carsley’s men scored three times. Jack Grealish was the first to score, Trent Alexander-Arnold doubled the score with a direct free-kick, and Declan Rice scored the final point.
The Finns managed to avoid a major defeat, at the same time not allowing Dean Henderson to make a wedge-shield in the first official match for the national team. The prestige goal was scored by Arttu Hoskonen, the defender of Polish Cracovia.
Let us remember that at the end of last season, England were relegated to Division B. Here the Three Lions started with two victories, but were suddenly beaten by the Greeks (1:2) in the George Baldock Memorial match.
Having scored three points, Carsley’s team remained second – the Greeks are ahead in head-to-head matches and have a game in hand. Finland lost its chances of promotion ahead of schedule and is currently bottom of the standings, having lost all four matches.
In the fifth round, England will face the decisive match of the entire group stage on the Greek field. The Finns will go on a visit to Ireland. Any result other than a win guarantees the Suomi team relegation to League C.
