The coach believes that the final result of the meeting is natural
Team coach Czech Republic Ivan Hasek summed up the results of the confrontation with Ukraine (1:1) in the fourth round of the 2024/25 Nations League.
“I think a draw is a fair result of today’s match. Although sometimes it seemed to us that we deserved to win. A difficult match, very intense, I think we deserved one point, considering that we played against the favorite.”
“Penalty? So far I have only seen photos. I think the appointment of such penalty kicks is harmful to football.”
The scoring was opened in the 18th minute – after a Czech corner, the ball was kicked out to Lukas Cherv, who, from outside the penalty area, accurately fired a low shot into Anatoly Trubin’s goal.
Ukraine equalized early in the second half, earning a penalty for handball by Ladislav Krejci. The kick from the point was confidently converted by Artem Dovbik.
The Czech Republic has seven points. Hasek’s team is single-handedly leading in Quartet 1.
The Czechs will play two more matches in November. On November 16, Hasek’s team will compete with Albania on the road, and three days later they will host Georgia.
