French police cite disturbances by Dutch fans at the last Champions League match against Lens
PSV officially announced that, according to the decision of the French authorities, fans of the Dutch club will not be allowed to attend the away match of the 3rd round Champions League against Paris Saint-Germainwhich will take place on October 22.
In addition, a complete ban on travel to Paris and back has been introduced for PSV fans.
The Eindhoven club calls this decision completely unexpected and is disappointed with it. PSV, unlike some other clubs, did not receive any European Cup fines or bans from UEFA. However, French police cite disturbances by Dutch fans at the 2023/24 Champions League match Lens – PSV (1:1), as well as “internal security issues.”
PSV protested this decision as soon as possible and proposed to take additional measures to ensure safety, but these actions did not bring results.
The club officially announces that within a few days it will fully compensate two thousand fans for the costs of booked tickets for the Paris match. However, travel and accommodation expenses already incurred will not be reimbursed.
In March this year, a PSV fan was sentenced to three months and given a 40-year ban from visiting the club’s stadium for attacking the Sevilla goalkeeper in a Europa League match.
Let us remind you that UEFA recently imposed sanctions on Lazio and Atlético Madrid for racist behavior of fans at the matches of the second round of the LE and Champions League, respectively.
PSV scored one point in the first two rounds of the updated Champions League. PSG started with a home victory over Girona (1:0), after which they lost away to Arsenal (0:2).
