Luis Castro: Ronaldo still strives to be the best, to break records. I hope he can reach the 1000 career goal mark

KriRo currently has 906 goals scored at the professional level

Ex-mentor Shakhtar And Al-Nasra Luis Castro spoke about how he worked with the legendary striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Cristiano was, is and will strive to be the best. You see it every day in every training session. He has a constant desire to play, break records, score the most beautiful goals. When you are around him, you understand why he became a phenomenon. He continues to be determined in everything he does. He knows that football has given him almost everything and loves it very much.”

“Can Ronaldo score 1000 goals in his career? It will depend not on him, but on the context. We tried to get the most out of Krish and ensured that he finished 2023 as the top scorer of the year (54 goals). I hope that the environment around him is favorable and he breaks the 1,000 goal mark.”

At the beginning of September, the legendary Portuguese scored the 900th goal of his professional career. Now he already has 907 goals scored at the official level for clubs and the national team. Of these, he has scored 66 in 73 matches for Al-Nasr since the start of 2023.

On October 13, Ronaldo became the first football player in history to reach 100 victories with his national team.

Last week, Cristiano met with Al-Nasr management to negotiate a contract extension. The current agreement with the Portuguese lasts until the end of the season. It was reported that the 39-year-old Ronaldo plans to remain active in order to play at the 2026 World Cup, setting a record for the number of participations in World Cups.

Until September, KriRo played for the Saudi club under the leadership of his compatriot, Shakhtar’s ex-mentor Luis Castro. A month ago, Al-Nasr officially broke up with the 63-year-old specialist. Soon this position was taken over by the Italian Stefano Pioli, who left Milan in the summer.

Al-Nasr is third in the Saudi Arabian Championship. In the next match, Ronaldo’s team will play away against their closest rival Al-Shabab on October 18.
