Ferguson was asked not to visit the Manchester United dressing room – media

The club’s new owners are breaking a tradition that dates back to the days of Matt Busby

Legendary former mentor Manchester United sir Alex Ferguson asked not to visit the Red Devils’ dressing room. This tradition at the club dates back to the time of Sir Matt Busby.

Manchester United management denies that they directly banned Ferguson from entering the dressing room. However, management officials said they had changed the club’s policy and there was now a “collective understanding” of who could visit the players.

It was previously reported that Alex Ferguson will leave his post as Manchester United’s global ambassador at the end of the 2024/25 season. The move comes as part of the club’s cost-saving strategy in light of recent losses. It is noted that Ferguson will always be welcome at Old Trafford.

In February, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe became the club’s new investor. The head of INEOS bought a 25% stake for 824 million euros. Ratcliffe assumed leadership and would subsequently buy a majority stake in the club.

From 1986 to 2013, Ferguson was the head coach of Manchester United. He is the most decorated manager in British football history. With the Red Devils, Fergie won 38 trophies, including 13 league titles and two Champions League trophies (1999, 2008).

Manchester United are in 14th place in the Premier League with eight points. In the next round, the Red Devils will host Brentford of Ukrainian Egor Yarmolyuk on October 19.
