UEFA fined Blaugrana 500 thousand euros for violating financial fair play
Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) confirmed the decision UEFA fine Barcelona for incorrect 2022 financial statements.
In the summer of 2023, the first chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) fined Blaugran €500,000 for financial fair play violations. The Catalans declared profits from the sale of intangible rights, which do not constitute qualifying income under the rules. We are talking about the sale of 10% of the club’s audiovisual rights related to La Liga for 25 years (worth 267,089,000 euros).
Barcelona appealed the decision, hoping to either overturn the fine or reduce the punishment. CAS sided with UEFA in this matter, rejecting the club’s appeal. The Blaugrana must also pay court costs for the hearing in the amount of 10 thousand Swiss francs.
Barcelona leads La Liga with 24 points. In the next round, the Blaugrana will host Seville on October 20.
