Shovkovsky: In the match with Obolon, they mainly counted on the players who remained in Kyiv

Dynamo won a crushing victory over Obolon (5:1) in the Kiev derby

Head coach Dynamo Alexander Shovkovsky commented on the crushing victory over Obolon (5:1) in the tenth round of the UPL.

“Preparing for today’s game, we were well aware that many of our players are in the ranks of the national teams. The collections returned on the 15th, got a day off, and already on the 16th they joined the main group. The players of the youth team generally only arrived in Kyiv on the morning of the 17th. Therefore, we mainly relied on players who remained in Kyiv.”

“Unfortunately, we have to state once again that we cannot count on Andrei Yarmolenko – he has certain problems with his Achilles. Alexander Pikhalenok is also starting his recovery, Brian Ceballos is also on the way to getting in shape, but so far he has not even joined the work in the main group and is working individually.”

“We decided on the lineup for the game based on the qualities with which the players can complement each other on the field. We know Karavaev’s qualities very well, and although he hasn’t played much recently, he is getting ready, he is a main player. In general, we do not have a main squad – all 24 players we have at our disposal, as well as four goalkeepers, are the main ones. There is also a starting lineup for the game, which we set taking into account certain moments.”

“We will begin preparations for the match with Roma tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, when we begin to analyze our future opponent, see how they play, and at what expense. A team has its own identity, it can change depending on the circumstances, the opponent, the result. But Dynamo always remains Dynamo, with its basic principles.”

Dynamo continues to lead the UPL standings – it has 25 points after 9 matches played.

The white-blues will play their next match on October 24 as part of the Europa League against Roma, after which they will play the “classic” against Shakhtar on October 27 in the UPL.
