The minimal victory over Zorya was the first for Krivbass in four rounds
Head coach Krivbassa Yuri Vernidub expressed satisfaction with the victory over Zarya (1:0) in the 10th round match Ukrainian Premier League.
“We were really looking forward to this victory, because we haven’t won for a long time. Finally she came, finally we scored. In terms of play, Krivbass was not inferior to anyone in previous rounds: neither Alexandria nor Dynamo. There were problems with implementation. Yes, we scored today, but we still had many chances to score. But the main thing is that today there is this victory. This success gives us the opportunity to move forward, which is what we will do.”
“Special adjustments [в перерыве] there wasn’t. I saw in the first half that we played very well. Somewhere the intensity of the game was lacking. Although before the game with Zarya we looked at SkillCorner data, and they have the fastest team in the UPL. Not even Dynamo and Shakhtar. I was worried that we might miss something on a counterattack, because the way Zarya conducts counterattacks, no UPL team conducts them. Maybe only Dynamo. We talked to the guys and didn’t give them this opportunity. Their second trump card is standards. They have guys who can play on the second floor. This is Budkovsky, and Jordan, and Esquinha, and Basic, and Micin. But we built our defense at set pieces in such a way that we gave them virtually no chance.”
“At Matteo’s [Аморозо] microtrauma. There was a blow and he was damaged. I didn’t want to risk it, so I decided to replace it. Bizimana only arrived on October 18th and managed to hold one training session with us on the 19th, and already took to the field today. I think he must be in a good mood because Rwanda won and he scored the winning goal in the last game.”
“We have to work [над реализацией]work and work again, which is what we constantly do. I am confident that our conscientious work will bear fruit. I looked at the statistics and in terms of xG we are among the leaders in the UPL. The main thing is that it exists. The only thing is, perhaps, there is a lack of skill somewhere. We will work.”
Let us remind you that Krivbass got three points in a nominally away match thanks to an accurate shot by Daniel Sosa at the beginning of the second half. The Lugansk team had a chance to win back, but failed to do so.
Yuri Vernidub’s team interrupted a three-match winless streak in the Ukrainian championship and scored 14 points, surpassing Zarya in the standings and rising to sixth place. In the next round, Krivbass will host LNZ on October 26.
