Today, the star Brazilian can take the field after a year’s absence
Striker’s father Neymar commented on the inclusion of his son in the Saudi application Al-Hilal for the match AFC Champions League against Al Ain from the UAE.
“Today is the time for your return, we are waiting for you to take the field and celebrate,” said Neymar Santos Sr.
Let us remind you that the star Brazilian missed the whole year due to injury. Neymar suffered a knee injury in October 2023 in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay. Since then, the forward has not entered the field. Neymar was diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his knee, as well as damage to the anterior cruciate ligament.
At the beginning of September it was reported that the forward would return to the field no earlier than November. The Brazilian failed medical and fitness tests, which, as was then reported, would delay his further recovery until at least January. Late last month, Al-Hilal head coach Jorge Jesus admitted that he could not give a date for Neymar’s return.
Yesterday it became known that the 32-year-old forward was included in the Saudi club’s squad for the away match with Al Ain (the current trophy holder) in the Asian Champions League.
Neymar became an Al-Hilal player in August last year after joining from PSG. His transfer cost the Saudi club 90 million euros. In his new place, the Brazilian managed to play only five matches, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
Al-Hilal started the 2024/25 season by winning the Saudi Arabian Super Cup. Then Jorge Jesus’ team won seven of seven matches in the national championship. The AFC Champions League group stage match with Al Ain will take place in the UAE today, October 21. Start – 18:00 Kyiv time.
