Arteta: We have to give Shakhtar his due. If you give them space, they are a threat.

The Gunners maintained a minimal advantage over the Donetsk club

Head coach Arsenal Mikel Arteta after the triumph over Shakhtar (1:0) in the third round of the group stage of the Champions League, he said that every victory in the Champions League format is important.

“I think there were two very different halves, in the first we were very dominant, we created four big, big chances, we should have taken them and put the game away with the amount of dominance we had. The second half was completely different, we looked tired and we lacked the sharpness with and without the ball to get the ball back into the areas we needed.”

“We again had two good chances, missed a penalty and again those emotions were hard to overcome. We have to give Shakhtar credit, they are a good team. The moment you give them space, don’t finish your own moves and give them a chance to run, they are a threat.”

“It’s very difficult to look at the table now because it will change, as will the number of games and the opponents we play. In the Champions League, winning at home, in this format, is especially important.”

Arsenal are fourth in the overall Champions League table with seven points. On November 6, Arteta’s men will play Inter.
