Benfica with Trubin unexpectedly lost at home to Feyenoord in the Champions League

The Rotterdam team has been unlucky for the Ukrainian legionnaires for the second round in a row

Benfica suffered an unexpected home defeat from Feyenoord in the 3rd round Champions League – 1:3.

In the first half, the Rotterdam team tore apart the Eagles on counterattacks. Already in the 12th minute, Brian Prisque’s team opened the scoring – Ayase Ueda finished off Igor Paixao’s pass from the left flank with a shot into the near corner. There are minimal complaints about Ukrainian Anatoly Trubin in this episode.

In the 25th minute, Ueda scored a double (in the process of attacking, Trubin saved, but the opponent finished the ball into the net), but the goal was canceled due to an attacking foul. And yet, Feillet achieved his goal: Anthony Milambo took a striking position and hit Trubin with a low blow. The Ukrainian goalkeeper did not help out in this situation.

Benfica attacked desperately, and the guests successfully defended the result for a long time. In the opening of the second half, the score even became large, but VAR intervened again – Gernot Trauner’s goal was canceled due to offside.

In the middle of the second half, the Lisbon team managed to get one goal back – Jan-Niklas Beste, having barely come on as a substitute, provided Kerem Akturkoglu with an assist. Despite all their efforts, the Portuguese team failed to escape defeat. Moreover, the guests punished her again in stoppage time – Milambo scored a double.

Benfica lost their first points in this Champions League. This result looks especially contrasting against the backdrop of the last round, when the Eagles destroyed Atletico Madrid (4:0).

Priske’s team, which started with a 0:4 home loss to Bayer, achieved a second consecutive away win. In the second round, we recall, the Dutch giants outshot Girona in a match with two own goals and two missed penalties (3:2). In that fight, among other things, Ukrainian Viktor Tsygankov was injured.

In the next round, Feyje will host Salzburg, and Benfica will visit Bayern.
