The Englishman received a “warm” welcome ahead of the Europa League match.
On Thursday, October 24, the match of the third round of the main part of the Europa League between Fenerbahce and Manchester United will take place in Istanbul.
This meeting promises to be hot, because the “yellow canaries” include former Mancunians Fred and Sofyan Amrabat, also under the leadership of Jose Mourinho, who spent just over two years at Old Trafford.
But the Turkish fans decided that such intensity of passions was not enough, and therefore they attacked the British, who flew to Turkey for this match.

In an Instagram post, a group of Turkish hooligans shared a photo of themselves standing in the street, some on motorbikes, with the caption: “First strike of the match… Manchester is now truly RED : ).”
“About 50 of them attacked us (a group of five). A man followed me down the street and pretended to help, and then hit me in the jaw,” StrettyNews quoted a Manchester United fan as saying.
Separately, 20 Fenerbahce fans reportedly attacked a smaller group of Red Devils, throwing bottles at them in an attempt to cause more trouble.
Riots among Turkish fans are not uncommon. Let’s remember that in March of this year, Fenerbahçe football players started fighting with Trabzonspor fans, who ran onto the football field immediately after the final whistle.
