The team will have to cope without his son Mircea in the next five matches, including against Manchester United in the Europa League
Greek Super League punished the head coach PAOK to Razvan Lucescu for his attack on the referees after the away match with AEKom (1:1) from October 20.
The Romanian specialist received a long disqualification. He was suspended from football for 23 days with a ban on being near the field, as well as in the locker rooms during official matches of his team during the specified period.
The essence of Lucescu’s offense is as follows: even during the mentioned match, he actively argued with representatives of Themis, and after the final whistle he began to aggressively communicate with the referees, in particular, hinting at their bias.
The son of the famous Mirchi is 55 years old. From 1987 to 2003, he played for various Romanian clubs, and has continued his coaching career for more than two decades. Lucescu Jr., starting in 2004, led Brasov, Rapid, the Romanian national team (2009 – 2011), Qatar Al-Jaish, Petrolu, Greek Skoda, Saudi Al-Hilal.
Razvan first worked as the head coach of PAOK from 2017 to 2019 (one championship title, two Cups won), and in the summer of 2021 he re-joined the club from Thessaloniki. In May 2023, Lucescu appeared as one of the candidates to replace Sergei Rebrov in Al Ain (UAE).
After eight rounds, PAOK shares 1-2 places with Aris (17 points each). Lucescu’s team also plays in the Europa League, where it began the general stage with two defeats – from Galatasaray (1:3) and FCSB (0:1).
The team will have to cope without its head coach in the next five matches – against OFI, Lamia and Olympiacos in the Super League, Eigaleo in the Cup, and Manchester United in the League.
