This Friday, it was announced that several national judges would administer justice during key matches of the continental competition.
Conmebol has appointed the referees for the second legs of the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana. Chilean whistlers are on the judges’ list, along with others from Colombia and Ecuador. The match between River Plate and Atlético Mineiro will be managed by the controversial Wilmar Roldán. The coffee judge delivered justice in the 2023 final, between Boca and Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro. In Núñez he will be accompanied by his compatriots Jhon Leon and Richard Ortiz, with Carlos Betancur as fourth referee. Meanwhile, Ecuador’s Carlos Orbe will be on the VAR and Bryan Loayza will be on the AVAR.
On the other hand, the confrontation between Penarol and Botafogo will be directed by Piero Maza. The Chilean will be supported by his compatriots Claudio Urrutia and Miguel Rocha. While José Cabero, Francisco Gilabert and Alejandro Molina will participate in the video refereeing.

Meanwhile, in the Copa Sudamericana, Lanús and Cruzeiro will be refereed by the Paraguayan Juan Benítez, who will dispense justice as the main judge, and his compatriots Derlis López, Carlos Benítez and José Cuevas will be in the VAR. In the first leg at the Mineirão de Belo Horizonte, the Brazilians and Argentines drew 1-1. In the confrontation between Racing and Corinthians there will also only be Chilean whistlers.
The main one will be Felipe González, accompanied on the field by José Retamal, Juan Serrano and Manuel Vergara. More from Rodrigo Carvajal, Benjamin Saravia and Alan Sandoval in the VAR.
