Roma forward – about the first stage in the Roman club
Forward for Roma and the Ukrainian national team Artem Dovbik spoke about adaptation to the Roman club, explained the appearance of his nickname “Machine” and admitted what advice did you receive from Andrey Shevchenko?
“There is always pressure in clubs like Roma, I’m ready for it. The main thing is that the team and head coach believe in me and support me. I was warmly received here. Football without pressure is not football. You constantly need to be motivated. Pressure is adrenaline, it’s better to play under it. I understand that Roma had great strikers – Dzeko, Lukaku, Batistuta. But this was their path. I want to be the new Dovbik. Show what I can do and the best football here.”
“Car? That’s what my teammates call me when they see me working in the gym.”
“In Ukraine, everyone knows who Shevchenko is – the best player in the history of the country’s national team and Ukrainian football. He won the Ballon d’Or. When he was the coach of the national team, he gave me advice that I later used: to be more aggressive, stronger and more hungry in the penalty area.”
Let us remind you that Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbik officially moved to Roma from Girona in early August. Artem became the first Ukrainian in the history of Wolves. According to previously released information, the transfer cost the Romans 32-33 million euros and 5-6 million bonus payments.
In the 2024/25 season, Dovbik played 11 matches for Roma in all competitions, scoring 5 goals. The forward distinguished himself in the match with the Czech Republic, converting a penalty.
