The hosts staged a comeback from 0:2, conceded on the power play, but still managed to score the fourth
Brentford achieved an impressive home win over Ipswich in the 9th round match English Premier League – 4:3.
At the end of half an hour, Tractor Drivers shocked the hosts with a double blow: Sammy Smodic and George Hurst scored within two minutes of each other.
The two-goal advantage lasted almost until the very end of the half, but melted away in the blink of an eye. First, Ioan Vissa narrowed the gap, and then Harrison Clarke cut the ball into his own goal.
The 23-year-old defender established himself as an anti-hero after the break, first being awarded a penalty for his foul, converted by Brian Mbeumo, before Clarke was sent off for a second yellow card.
Having gained a numerical advantage, Brentford seemed to calmly take the match to a beautiful strong-willed victory. But it was not to be: fresh Liam Dilap equalized the score from a pass from Lief Davis. The Bees had to put in extra efforts, and they were rewarded: Mbeumo scored a double and brought his team a hard-fought victory.
Brentford’s Ukrainian midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk did not appear on the field. In the next round, Thomas Frank’s team, currently in 9th place, will meet Fulham away.
