Bartulovich: It seemed like we were sleeping in the first half. It’s good that we managed to get a much-needed victory

Three days later, Zarya will face a difficult confrontation with Shakhtar in the Ukrainian Cup

Mentor Zari Mladen Bartulovich commented on his team’s victorious result in the away match of the 11th round Ukrainian Premier League against Left Bank (2:0).

“Congratulations to our team on an important victory. She was difficult for us. Not everything worked out in the first half. We watched how Left Bank played its last matches. They played well and aggressively, especially on defense.”

“Today they also played well, but we managed to create a chance, earn and convert a penalty. This ruined their plan for the fight. We managed to make substitutions that strengthened the game. We scored the second goal and brought the match to the desired victory.”

“The attitude at half-time was to act more aggressively. Don’t give in to aggression and wake up. Because it seemed like we were sleeping in the first half. It’s good that we managed to get a positive result.”

“The game against Shakhtar? Every match is important for us. We had to gain the maximum, especially considering the fact that we had lost twice before. The cup is the cup, so this is a special meeting for us. We will be as prepared as possible for the game on Wednesday.”

Let us remind you that Zarya took the lead thanks to a penalty converted by Philip Budkovsky in stoppage time for the first half. This goal allowed the experienced forward to single-handedly lead the list of Zarya’s top scorers in the matches of the elite division of the Ukrainian championship.

Six minutes after the break, Alexander Yatsyk scored the second goal of the match. Left Bank spent the rest of the match trying to win back, but failed to save the match.

Zarya interrupted a mini-series of two defeats, scored 15 points and ranks sixth in the UPL. In the next match, Bartulovich’s team will play against Shakhtar on October 30 in the Ukrainian Cup.
