A Mancunian legend may once again be rescued.

Monday 28 October marked the end of more than two years for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

According to preliminary information, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who worked as an assistant for ten Hags, will be the interim coach of the Red Devils while the club searches for a new permanent coach.

According to the Manchester Evening News, one of the candidates is considered to be former Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has remained unemployed since he was sacked by the English club in November 2021.

The Mancunians may turn to the Norwegian because of the challenges they face in a coaching market where there are few suitable candidates available.

Ruben Amorim will not leave Sporting in the middle of the season, with a fee in place for next summer.

Former England manager Gareth Southgate recently said he would take a year off, as did Xavi Hernandez, who previously left Barcelona.

In addition, United management doubts that they have the funds to buy the contract of the desired coach.
