It looks like they can manage without Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after all.

Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim is ready to take charge of Manchester United, reports The Athletic.

According to the source, the Red Devils will pay the Portuguese 10 million euros, which is stated in the 39-year-old coach’s contract as compensation.

The clubs are in talks to finalize a deal that would see Amorim take over as Manchester United coach from Ruud van Nistelrooy, who will act as interim coach.

Last spring, Amorim was one of the candidates for the role of Liverpool coach, who later bet on Arne Slot.

And as this season progressed, the Portuguese started being touted as a potential successor to Pep Guardiola if he did not renew his contract at Manchester City.

Ruben Amorim has been the head of Sporting since March 2020. During this time, he has led the Lions to the Portuguese championship twice, winning the League Cup twice with the club and the Portuguese Super Cup once. Amorim’s contract with Sporting runs until the summer of 2026.
