Now the midfielder will represent Kharkov Metalist 1925
Midfielder Metalist 1925 Ramik Gadzhiev spoke about his move to the Kharkov club and his failure to sign a contract in England.
“There were offers from both Dynamo and Polesie, but at that time I wanted to try myself in Europe, go to the trial and test my strength. That’s how it was at that time: first Brentford and then Derby.”
“I came to Brentford after finishing the U-19 Euro, where I played for the national team. From Ireland I flew to London for the screening. First impressions are excellent: the base, fields, infrastructure – everything is at a crazy level. The people are very kind and received me well. I didn’t feel like I was watching; I was treated as equals. The training was intense and the level of the guys was good. But not as some people think, that they are crazy in a good sense and very strong, that Ukrainians are far from them in terms of level. In fact, no, our youth teams could compete with the British.”
“I was on the team for two weeks, everything was fine, the coach praised me, was very pleased with me and wanted to stay. After reviewing, I waited for a response and was informed that there was a problem with the application. The season in England had already begun, and I, as a foreign player, had a separate category because I did not play enough games for the national team. “Brentford didn’t have any extra places for me and they couldn’t sign me up.”
Gadzhiev made his debut for the main team of Dnepr-1 last season, playing 9 matches in the UPL and scoring one goal.
The midfielder also played for the Ukrainian U-19 national team, with which he reached the semi-finals of the Youth Euro 2024 this summer.
After the youth Euro 2024, Ramik Gadzhiev was on trial in the English Brentford and Derby County, but this did not result in the signing of a contract and the player returned to Ukraine, where he signed a contract with Metalist 1925.
M-1925 is in third place in the First League standings (Group B).
