Sporting confirmed that Amorim will lead Manchester United, which will pay Lisbon 10 million euros in compensation for the coach

The final details of the coach’s transfer will be settled after today’s match between Sporting and Nacional

Head coach Sporting Ruben Amorim one step away from destination Manchester United.

The Lisbon club confirmed receipt of an official offer from the Mancunians, and Ruben Amorim himself has already agreed to accept it. The release clause that Manchester United will pay to Sporting is expected to be €10 million.

The final details of the transfer should be settled after Sporting’s Portuguese League Cup quarter-final match against Nacional today.

Ruben Amorim has been heading the Lisbon club since 2020. Sporting under his leadership became twice champions and won the Portuguese Cup twice. Last season, the Green-Whites overtook Benfica to claim their 20th league title in history.

It was previously reported that Amorim is on Manchester City’s list of interests if Pep Guardiola leaves. However, back in mid-October, Manchester United made a specific request to Sporting about the transfer of a coach.

Manchester United announced the dismissal of head coach Erik ten Hag on Monday. Ten Hag’s assistant, ex-Manchester United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy, has been appointed interim coach of the Red Devils.

In the Premier League standings, Manchester United is in 14th place with 11 points. The Red Devils next face Leicester in the Carabao Cup on October 30.
