RB Leipzig beat St. Pauli in a high-scoring match and reached the 1/8 finals of the German Cup

RB Leipzig won St. Pauli in the home match of the 1/16 finals German Cup – 4:2.

The Bulls started the game briskly and by the 17th minute scored two goals through the efforts of Yussuf Poulsen and Christoph Baumgartner. Midway through the first half, Morgan Guilavogi reduced the visitors’ lead, but two minutes later Poulsen restored Leipzig’s comfortable lead.

After the break, Eric Smith brought the intrigue back into the match with Gilavoga’s assist, but the guests didn’t have enough to do more. Towards the end of the meeting, Antonio Nusa scored the fourth goal against ex-Zorya goalkeeper Nikola Vasil, eliminating all questions about the winner of the confrontation.

Leipzig ranks second in the Bundesliga, behind Bayern in additional indicators. St. Pauli is in 16th position in the standings.

Leipzig’s next match will be away against Borussia Dortmund on November 2, while St. Pauli will face Hoffenheim on the same day.
