Pep recalled that Erling Haaland was at the event last year despite not winning the award.

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has shared his thoughts on Vinicius and Real Madrid’s boycott of the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony.

The Spaniard recalled that last year his ward Erling Haaland deserved to win the award and came to the ceremony despite the fact that he did not win it.

“If Vinicius wins the Ballon d’Or, it will be more than deserved!

Like last season with Erling Haaland… and he didn’t win!

Erling was there, he was happy, he congratulated Messi and said to himself: “okay, let’s try to do it next season!”

Pep also refused to condemn Real for their decision.

“They want to leave – okay, they don’t want – nothing big they want to congratulate – okay, they don’t want – we’re not here to judge what other clubs will do ,” concluded the specialist.
