The Al-Hilal forward will not be called up for the November 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Venezuela and Uruguay
Attack Al-Hilal Neymar will return to Brazil national team in 2025.
The player came to this decision together with the Seleção coaching staff. Therefore, Neymar will not be called up for the upcoming qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup against Venezuela (November 14) and Uruguay (November 20), but will focus on getting into optimal condition in the Saudi club.
Neymar is expected to return to the Brazil squad for qualifying matches against Colombia and Argentina in March 2025.
On October 21, Neymar entered the field a year later – the 32-year-old Brazilian played 14 minutes in the Asian Champions League match against Al Ain (5:4).
Let us remind you that the star Brazilian missed the whole year due to injury. Neymar suffered a knee injury in October 2023 in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay. Since then, the forward has not entered the field. Neymar was diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his knee, as well as damage to the anterior cruciate ligament.
At the beginning of September it was reported that the forward would return to the field no earlier than November. The Brazilian failed medical and fitness tests, which, as was then reported, would delay his further recovery until at least January.
In September 2023, in a match with Bolivia (5:1), Neymar broke the record of the legendary Pele and became the top scorer of the Brazilian national team in history, with 79 goals scored in 128 matches in the Seleção jersey.
Al-Hilal will play their next match on November 1 against Al-Nasr as part of the Saudi Arabian Championship.
