Polissya reached the quarterfinals of the Ukrainian Cup
Head coach Polesia Imad Ashur was pleased with the performance of his team in the match with Krivbass (2:1) in the 1/8 finals Ukrainian Cup 2024/25.
“This was another game that was easier for the guys to get ready for than the previous ones. The game was not bad, there is a result. The moments that we created today are positive things that we should take from this match, and that’s the main thing. It’s good that they exist. The match turned out to be difficult and even too emotional. The guys won and it’s very important for us.”
“Replacements were forced, unfortunately. There were doubts whether it was worth doing two at once. But the guys admitted that it was better to replace them.”
“The first goal is a working goal. I can be happy for both goals, which came from the finishing zones. We must take advantage of such moments. It doesn’t always happen that players are in these zones when serving, but we are working hard on this.”
Krivbass opened the scoring thanks to an accurate shot from Maxim Zaderaki. Sergei Chobotenko scored the return goal before the break. Polesie snatched victory midway through the second half thanks to a goal from Alexey Gutsulyak.
In addition to Polesie, Dynamo, Rukh, Oleksandriya and Bukovyna have already made it to the 1/4 finals of the Ukrainian Cup. The quarterfinal matches will take place in April 2025.
