Pep Guardiola’s experimental team failed to cope with Spurs
The 1/8 final match took place in London English League Cup — Tottenham defeated Manchester City (2:1).
The scoring was opened in the 5th minute – Timo Werner scored after a pass from Dejan Kulusevski. In the middle of the half, the Swede assisted again – this time to Pope Sarah.
Manchester City pulled one goal back just before the break thanks to Mateus Nunez’s precise strike. In the second half, the experimental composition of the Citizens could not do anything with the defense of Tottenham, which created one of the main sensations at this stage of the tournament.
In addition to Tottenham, Southampton, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle previously made it to the quarter finals of the English League Cup.
Manchester City will play their next match on November 2 at Ilya Zabarny’s Bournemouth field, while Tottenham will host Aston Villa at home a day later.
