The 1/8 final match took place English League Cup — Liverpool won on the road against Brighton (3:2).
The scoring in the match was opened immediately after the break – Cody Gakpo scored, and in the 63rd minute the Dutch forward scored a double. Brighton pulled one goal back through the efforts of Simon Adingre, but four minutes later Luis Diaz restored the Merseysiders to a comfortable two-goal lead.
The Seagulls again reduced their gap to a minimum through the efforts of Tariq Lamptey in the 90th minute, but Arne Slot’s team did not lose theirs.
Previously, Southampton and Egor Yarmolyuk’s Brentford had already secured access to the quarter finals of the English League Cup. The remaining participants in this stage of the tournament will be determined today.
Liverpool and Brighton will also play their next match against each other, but this time in the Premier League. The meeting will take place at Anfield on November 2.
