The Paris criminal court will examine the case of the kidnapping of the world football champion from the France team from November 26 to December 3. Paul Pogba reports L’Equipe.
The accused are six acquaintances and relatives of Pogba. Five of these people are suspected of having organized a meeting in the Paris suburbs on March 19, 2022 with the aim of kidnapping the footballer. According to the investigation, Pogba was kidnapped and robbed by two strangers who demanded 13 million euros from him. Among the accused is the brother of footballer Mathias Pogba, suspected of having “put pressure” on a relative.
The footballer said that in March 2022 he was kidnapped by hooded men armed with a machine gun. These criminals then forced him to give them money and allegedly forced him to sign certain business contracts.
In February 2024, Pogba was suspended for four years for anti-doping rule violations. The Frenchman passed a positive doping test in August 2023. Pogba’s body showed high levels of testosterone. Sample B was then opened and gave the same result. In October 2024, the Court of Arbitration for Sport commission partially upheld Pogba’s appeal, the suspension period was reduced to 18 months and the fine was canceled. The disqualification period begins on September 11, 2023.
Pogba is 31 and won the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2021 Nations League with France. At Juventus, the footballer won the Italian Championship four times, the Italian Super Cup three times and the Italian Cup twice. He also won the Europa League with English Manchester United.
