Kyiv-Basketdespite desperate resistance Prykarpattya-Hoverly, managed to hold on to the victory on the opponent’s court – 77:74. Cherkasy Mavpy, in turn, outplayed Krivbass — 72:64.
The Ivano-Frankivsk team, which had previously lost all five opening matches, started strongly against the favorite and led the score for most of the first quarter. However, the guests subsequently seized the initiative and went into the first break with a +3 advantage.
From the middle of the second segment, the Kiev team began to increase their advantage. At the beginning of the last quarter, Dmitry Zabirchenko’s team was leading +13, but then Prykarpattya-Hoverla made a powerful breakthrough and even managed to take the lead – 74:73. Still, the favorite avoided a fiasco and left the ending behind. The most productive player was the representative of the hosts, Igor Starodub, and Maxim Sandul from the capital team scored a double-double with an amazing 18 rebounds.
The fight in Cherkasy took place on equal terms for a long time. Only in the third quarter were the hosts able to gain a slight lead, but by the last break their handicap was only three points. However, the Mavpi had a strong fourth quarter and won quite confidently.
Having won the fifth victory out of six possible, Kyiv-Basket caught up with the second-placed BC Rivne, but has a worse point difference. For Cherkasy Mavp, their success was also the fifth, but in seven meetings. The Krivoy Rog team has a 3:4 winning margin. Prykarpattya-Hoverla closes the table.
