Benfica with Trubin won a strong-willed victory away against Farense

Bruno Lage’s team won their fifth consecutive victory in the Portuguese Championship

The match of the 10th round of the Portuguese championship has ended – Benfica on the road won a strong-willed victory over Farense (2:1).

The scoring was opened in the 15th minute – a goal scored by Farense forward Dario Poveda, known for his performances in La Liga for Getafe. To Benfica’s credit, they bounced back almost immediately – 21-year-old lateral Alvaro Carreras scored his debut goal of the season. Benfica’s victory at the start of the second half was brought by a precise shot from Greek striker Vangelis Pavlidis.

Benfica’s Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoly Trubin was in the starting lineup as usual and played his 13th match for the club in all tournaments this season.

For Benfica, this victory was the fifth in a row in the championship – it is still third in the standings, behind only Sporting and Porto. Farense is in last 18th place – in 10 rounds the club has only 4 points scored.

Benfica will play their next match on November 6 in the Champions League against Bayern, after which they will play against Porto in the national championship on November 10. Farense, in turn, will play away against Casa Pia a day earlier.
