Barcelona confidently beat Espanyol in the derby and moved ahead of Real Madrid

The double was scored by Olmo, who appeared in the starting lineup for the first time after injury.

Barcelona in the first city derby in a year and a half within Examples won an easy victory over Espanyol at home – 3:1.

Hans-Dieter Flick’s team scored a big score in the first half hour. Two scoring hits were scored by Dani Olmo, who started for the first time since September 15 – the midfielder was recovering from an injury for more than a month. Raphinha scored another goal.

Espanyol, although the forces were clearly unequal, tried to respond sharply. Twice Perikitos’ goals were canceled due to offside – first when the score was 0:2, then after the break. And yet, the visitors scored a goal of prestige – it was scored by Javi Puado.

The 11th victory in 12 rounds allowed the Blue Garnets to break away from Real by nine points in the table – however, the Blancos have a game in hand. Espanyol remained 17th, on the very border of the relegation zone.

Exactly in a week, Flick’s team will be visiting San Sebastian, but before that, on Wednesday, they will go to Belgrade to face Crvena Zvezda in the 4th round of the Champions League.
