The specialist believes that Dynamo played much better in attack than in defense against Ingulets
Head coach Dynamo Alexander Shovkovsky commented on his team’s effective victory over Ingulets (5:2) in the 12th round Ukrainian Premier League.
“If you don’t take into account the score of the match, the game turned out to be difficult. We understood that in the middle of the week we played 120 minutes in a cup game in Poltava, and before that, two days before that we played an important match with Shakhtar. Therefore, after returning from Poltava, I gave the guys one full day off so that they could rest.”
“When preparing for today’s game, we fully understood how our opponents would play – that there would be a lot of fighting, that they would rely on set pieces. In this component, I think we have not done enough work. I am more pleased with the actions in the attack – in particular, we implemented our developments and made the right decisions. We could have scored more, so I congratulate everyone on their victory.”
“We prepare for each specific game, analyze the opponent, and focus on their actions. Victory is victory, no matter how it is. Of course, you want to have zero in your own goal, and as much as possible in someone else’s. But we go out to play against teams that also set some tasks for themselves and try to solve them, taking into account certain moments and the players that they have at their disposal. To be honest, I have an ambivalent attitude towards today’s victory. On the one hand, I’m happy, on the other, not very much.”
“Leave Mikhavko alone. Today I am pleased with his performance – both in terms of implementing his plans and his first pass. Apparently he needs to go through these tests. Ask me these questions, and don’t touch the guy. For me this is not a problem at all. For me, let one of our players score in their own goal in every game – as long as we score in someone else’s goal.”
“Pikhalenok is only at the beginning of recovery. As for Popov, he will also just begin to work in the general group. Yarmolenko is back, Shaparenko, fortunately, has no complications with the cuts he had, and he played a pretty good game today, although there are points that will need to be focused on. In general, I can say that today we worked much better in attack than in defense.”
The Kiev team had a productive match against the UPL outsider, scoring four times (but also conceding one) before the break. Vladislav Vanat scored the double. In the second half, defender Taras Mikhavko scored his third own goal this season. Previously, he scored his own goal in Dynamo’s victorious games – against Krivbass (2:1) and Obolon (5:1).
Thanks to today’s victory, Dynamo is once again level with Alexandria – both clubs have 29 points each and they share the lead in the standings. Shakhtar, who is third, has 23 points.
Shovkovsky’s team will face Ferencvaros in the Europa League on November 7, after which they will play Polesie on November 10 in the UPL.
