Parker – Dubois: I’ve been waiting for a big fight since March, let’s do it now

More than six months ago, Joseph defeated Zhilei to win the interim WBO heavyweight title.

Interim WBO World Heavyweight Champion Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) challenged the IBF heavyweight champion to a fight Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs).

“He looked great against Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua. But there is a difference. I’m fresh, hungry and ready to fight. I’ve been waiting for a big fight since March, let’s do it now,” Joseph said.

Let us remember that on September 21 in London, Dubois defeated Joshua. Daniel knocked down AJ three times and knocked out his opponent in the fifth round. Dubois defended the IBF title, which he received after Oleksandr Usyk abandoned it.

Promoter Frank Warren said Dubois would fight his next fight in early 2025. Daniel planned to decide on his next opponent by the end of October. Despite the commitment to a rematch with Joshua, the latter may not have time to prepare for February, so another Briton, Fabio Wardley, could become an option for an “intermediate” fight. The IBF has already given the green light to this.

Parker fought his last fight in March of this year against Zhang Zhilei, who defended the aforementioned interim WBO title. During the fight, the New Zealander was knocked down twice, but managed to win on points (113:113, 114:112, 115:111). It was reported that both boxers agreed in advance about a potential rematch, and are ready to fulfill the terms of the contract.
