Since 2020, the Ghanaian has been working on the coaching staff of the Danish Nordsjælland
Former midfielder Chelsea and the national team Ghana’s Michael Essien received a certificate as a qualified trainer UEFA.
The main club in Michael Essien’s career was Chelsea, for which he played from 2005 to 2014. Together with him, the midfielder won the 2012 Champions League, became the English champion twice (2005/06 and 2009/10), and also became a four-time FA Cup winner.
Essien’s career also included appearances for Lyon, Real Madrid and Milan. Together with the Ghana national team, the midfielder played at two World Cups – 2006 and 2014, but missed the country’s triumphant 2010 World Cup due to injury, where Ghana made it to the quarterfinals.
The Ghanaian ended his playing career in 2020 in Sabail, Azerbaijan. In the same year, he began working on the coaching staff of the Danish Nordsjælland, where he is currently an assistant to head coach Jens Ollen.
