The final match of the 11th round of the Italian championship ended in Rome. Serie A — Lazio beat at home not without problems Cagliari (2:1).
The scoring was opened in the 2nd minute – Boulaye Dia scored his sixth goal for Lazio this season. The guests from Sardinia restored the status quo shortly before the break – Angolan winger Zito Luvumbu scored.
Until the 75th minute, Cagliari managed to defend a draw until a penalty was awarded against them. Lazio captain Mattia Zaccagni hit the ball from the spot.
Cagliari finished the match with nine men – in the 79th minute, center back Yerry Mina and defensive midfielder Michel Adopo received their second yellow cards for arguing with the referee.
Lazio now has 22 points – Marco Baroni’s team has overtaken Juventus and moved up to fifth place. Cagliari is in 16th position with 9 points as before.
Lazio will play their next match on November 7 against Porto in the Europa League, followed by Monza on November 10 in Serie A. Cagliari, in turn, will host Milan at home a day earlier.
