Obolon goalkeeper – about the match with Veres and the upcoming match with LNZ in the UPL
28-year-old Obolon goalkeeper Nazariy Fedorivsky kept a clean sheet in the home game against Veres in the 12th round of the UPL (0:0).
— Nazariy, how would you evaluate the outcome of this meeting?
“We are dissatisfied, first of all, with the result of this meeting. We were all just looking forward to winning the home match with Veres, because it was a good chance to get out of the basement of the tournament table. At a minimum, we earned one point and in the future, we will try to score as many points as possible, until the winter break.
— Four days ago in Rivne you played a cup match against Veres. How were these matches different?
— I think that in the cup game, in terms of the game, we performed better. Yes, in the Ukrainian Cup match we lost to the opponent, if we talk about the final score. We did a lot in Rivne, our combinations took place in the middle of the field.
Last Wednesday, Vasily Kurko had a great match against Veres. And in the Ukrainian championship game, it was clear that Veres was well prepared for the meeting with us – they blocked the zones in the middle of the field. Therefore, we had to play according to the guests’ script. Unfortunately, we couldn’t score today. Several times we lost the ball in the middle of the field, and the guests ran into counterattacks.
— The first half of the reporting match passed without any sharp moments. Why?
– I will say that this meeting took place without a center field. Of course, we wanted to open the scoring and, I think, we had the best moment in the match at the beginning of the second half. Ruslan Chernenko headed home from close range. If he had luck at that moment, he would have scored a goal.
— Why were there so many fouls and yellow cards?
— We knew that there would be a lot of struggle, because Veres is a fighting team. We were given no other option but to fight and overcome our opponents on the football field.
— Do you have any complaints against the arbitrators?
– I don’t want to talk about it. Maybe there were some minor moments, but I’m not a football expert. There are no special complaints.
— Your next match in the Ukrainian championship will be in Cherkassy. Will you be watching the next opponent’s game against Zorya?
“I know that the coaching staff of our team will definitely watch this match. Perhaps one of my partners, too. I’ll probably just relax in the evening.
— Were you surprised that LNZ lost to Victoria in the Ukrainian Cup?
– No. There are many strong teams in the first league. Remember how Ingulets, playing in the first division, reached the final of the Ukrainian Cup. For first division football players, cup matches are a great chance to express themselves and receive an offer from an elite division team.
