Markevich: The Ukrainian national team has no other options except two victories

Ukraine will confront Georgia and Albania

Famous Ukrainian coach Miron Markevich commented on the upcoming meetings of the Ukrainian national team in Group B1 of the 2024/25 Nations League against Georgia and Albania.

“We have no other option other than two victories. We need six points to count on progressing further. I think the players themselves understand everything perfectly well. We have to go out and show our best qualities.”

The Ukrainian national team has four points and takes last place in Group 1 of Division B of the League of Nations. In the October matches, Sergei Rebrov’s team scored its first points – in nominally “home” matches, it beat Georgia (1:0) and tied with the Czech Republic (1:1).

Rebrov’s team has two final matches ahead. The Georgia-Ukraine match will take place in Batumi on Saturday, November 16. Then, on November 19, Rebrov’s team will face Albania on the road.

The national team’s application for the November matches also became known. Brentford midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk received his debut call to the national team, and Arsenal defender Alexander Zinchenko and Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov, who missed previous matches of the Ukrainian national team due to injuries, also returned to the team.
