Footballer Mendy wins court case against Manchester City for non-payment of his salary

Former defender Manchester City Benjamin Mendy reported that he had won a case against an English football club in a case of non-payment of wages for a year and a half.

Last July, Mendy was found not guilty of charges of rape and attempted rape. During the investigation and trial, City suspended the Frenchman from matches; the club has not paid Mendy’s salary since 2021.

— The court upheld the substance of my claim against Manchester City for unpaid wages, ruling that the club had unlawfully withheld salary deductions for 16 months and 23 days.

I am happy with this decision and I sincerely hope that the club will do the honorable thing and pay all monies owed to me as promised in the contract so that I can put this difficult period of my life behind me. “I want to thank my family, my agents and my legal team for their support,” Mendy wrote on the social network.

Mendy is 30 years old and has been playing for French club Lorient since the summer of 2023.
