The Swiss lost to Shakhtar in the fourth round of the Champions League
Acting head coach Young Boys Yoel Magnin was disappointed with the result of the match with Miner (1:2) in the fourth round of the general round Champions League.
“We are very disappointed with the result. We took the lead, then Loris Benito, one of our important defenders, got injured and we immediately conceded. We gave everything to get a point, but unfortunately we didn’t succeed. All I can do is congratulate Shakhtar on their victory.”
The Swiss took the lead in the match against Shakhtar; Kastriot Imeri scored in the middle of the first half. The Swiss midfielder’s goal was the debut for Young Boys in the current Champions League. However, just four minutes later, Alexander Zubkov equalized the score, and then Georgy Sudakov scored the goal, which became the winning goal for the Miners.
Young Boys are in penultimate place in the 2024/25 Champions League, without gaining a single point after four matches. In the next round, Magnin’s team will host Atalanta on November 26.
